Tandigm Health Signs Agreement with Doylestown Healthcare Partnership

Tandigm Health and Doylestown Healthcare Partnership (DHP) today announced an innovative agreement to improve the delivery of quality healthcare, reduce costs, and enhance patient satisfaction. Under the agreement, DHP – a clinically-integrated network that includes Doylestown Health and primary care and specialist physicians – will collaborate with Tandigm Health and its extensive network of primary care physicians. Tandigm Health’s clinical expertise, analytic tools, and real-time data, combined with DHP’s capabilities in the management of patients with chronic illness can help doctors better manage difficult chronic conditions, expedite preventive care, and deliver more cost-effective, high-quality care.

The partnership marks Tandigm Health’s second cooperative arrangement this year with both a clinically-integrated network of primary care physicians and a health system providing a full continuum of healthcare services. This arrangement is Tandigm Health’s first that includes specialists, reinforcing the importance of hospitals, primary care physicians, and specialists working together to coordinate patient care. The agreement was effective October 1, 2015.

“Primary care physicians throughout our region continue to share enthusiasm for our model,” said Anthony Coletta, M.D. president and CEO of Tandigm Health. “This new agreement with Doylestown Health and DHP highlights our mutual interest in having specialists pursue collaborative partnerships with hospital and primary care physician organizations. Together, we can ensure that patients have access to physicians and a health system that are providing well-coordinated, high quality and efficient healthcare.”

“Our patients and community are the beneficiaries of this very collaborative relationship,” said Jim Brexler, president and CEO of Doylestown Health. “Through better coordination of care among all parts of our health system and Tandigm Health, we are better equipped to deliver high-quality and sustainable services for both wellness and illness care. Our agreement with Tandigm is a natural progression to build on our strengths and partner with another organization that shares our vision.”

Tandigm Health, based in West Conshohocken, Pa. was formed in April 2014 by affiliates Independence Blue Cross and DaVita HealthCare Partners (NYSE: DVA). Tandigm Health enables the primary care physicians in its network to provide superior care to patients, emphasizing the quality of care, not the quantity of care.

Doylestown Healthcare Partnership is a joint venture among individual primary care and specialist physicians, and Doylestown Hospital, the flagship of a health system known as Doylestown Health. “DHP is unique among networks in that independent and employed physicians, in addition to the health system, are integrated  to deliver high-quality, cost-effective healthcare in a regional marketplace that extends well beyond the Doylestown community,” according to Scott Levy, MD, chairman of DHP.

“The Tandigm-DHP agreement helps create a tipping point for better care coordination with all partners focused on common goals,” said Sheri Putnam, Executive Director of DHP. “A few short years ago this kind of arrangement could only be envisioned. Today it is a reality.”

The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
